Our own practice framework names toileting and sexual activity as activities of daily living, which puts pelvic health squarely within OT scope. And the skills pelvic health clients need most are the ones OTs already have: motivational interviewing, a biopsychosocial lens, and the ability to calm the nervous system and build trust around topics people rarely talk about.

Hi, I'm Lindsey.
I almost became a PT. I was racking up observation hours when the physical therapist I was shadowing called in sick, and the director asked if I'd like to shadow an occupational therapist instead.
After that one session, I knew I'd come home.
I went on to found The Functional Pelvis, the first in-home pelvic floor therapy practice in NYC run by an OT. Along the way, I heard every version of "Why would an OT want to do what PTs do?" So I built the path I wish I'd had: pelvic health education taught by an OT, for OTs.
